CCA Lead Teacher Named

Guillermo Vasquez has been named the lead teacher for the new Construction Careers Academy (CCA) that will open on the Warren High School campus next school year.

Vasquez has spent 27 years as an educator in both Texas and New York, teaching at all levels—elementary, middle, and high school.

He began his career in Laredo ISD as a 2nd and 5th grade teacher. He then moved to Hebbronville (TX) Middle School as a social students and Spanish teacher, where he also coached football, basketball and track. He was the English and Social Studies teacher at Webb Consolidated School District in Bruni (TX) before moving to Kingston, N.Y. as a Social Studies, Spanish, and Physical Education at the Children’s Home of Kingston.

Vasquez taught Spanish at Fort Edward (NY) Union Free School, and then became the Education Supervisor General and Computer Lab Manager at the Washington Correctional Facility in Comstock, N.Y. He returned to (San Antonio) Texas in 1997 as the Assistant Principal at the International School of the Americas.

Vasquez began his career in Northside ISD in 2003 when he became a technology teacher at Warren High School in 2003. He will now lead the new CCA as it opens with a freshman class in August 2009.
